Dr. James Kent, DPM, MS

 

Dr. James Edward Kent is a Native-Texan, born in Amarillo and raised in Texas. He is the son of a former school superintendent and decided early on to commit his life to medicine. He graduated from Rankin High School 1996 and was very active in both academics and sports.

 

After graduating with honors from Rankin, he began college by attending Texas A&M University in College Station and graduated in 2001. During his time at A&M, he was a very active in church, student government, and intramural sports. After graduating from A&M, he attended The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio to work on a Masters degree in Biomedical Science. There at the UT Health Science Center he enrolled in the same courses with the medical students and worked in a colon cancer research lab.

 

At the time of his enrollment, The UT Health Science Center’s Anatomy Department was ranked 4th overall for medical schools in the United States under Harvard medical school, University of California at San Francisco medical school, and Johns Hopkins medical school.

 

While at the health science center he became interested in podiatric medicine. During his last year at UT, he met a nationally known orthopedic surgeon who told him about podiatric medicine. By the end of the 2003 spring semester he finished his thesis and graduated with a master’s degree.

 

During this time he was accepted at Des Moines University Medical School in Des Moines, Iowa. After his graduation in 2007, James was accepted to Lourdes Hospital, New York for a three year residency program and graduated in June, 2010.

 

James enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and golf. His hobbies include woodworking, weight lifting, and construction work. He is an active member of the Shiloh Road Church of Christ in Tyler.
