Former PATH Client Pays it Forward
In 2008 Dan became disabled to the point that he could no longer work. Dan came to PATH initially for food while he was waiting on approval of his disability claim. After meeting with a PATH Case Worker, Dan received “the most important gift from PATH” --- having dental work done to stop the pain from his rotting teeth. Dan said that PATH helped him with everything from the paperwork to setting up the dental appointment and even told him how to get transportation to the clinic. He rode the bus to the clinic and had 8-9 teeth pulled in total. Dan says that in trying to take care of his kids and family first, he made a choice to neglect some of his own needs.
Dan says that he never forgot the help that PATH provided him for 3 months in 2008. He says he was treated with dignity and respect and feels very blessed and thankful to God and PATH for seeing him through a low point in his life. After a few months, with his disability approved, Dan was able to get back on his own two feet financially.
Dan said that he always wanted to “share back” to PATH. On May 28, 2013 Dan donated over 500 pounds of food to PATH in an effort to help others. Dan advises others facing a low point in life “…put your faith in God and never give up. You just have to push on and make things happen for yourself.”
